Justin Iverson

I am a returning James Island Charter High School teacher and coach wrestling and assist with pole vaulting during the track season. In addition to spending three years as a full time firefighter, I have also taught high school math in NJ, volunteered as a mentor and tutor with Communities in Schools and coached wrestling at Burke High School.

The role of a coach is not simply to attain proficiency in a sport but to utilize the skills of that sport to teach lessons that transcend the field and lead to success in life. Mathematics is no different, so in addition to achieving mastery in the content areas and being able to apply the knowledge in real world settings, I will be utilizing math skills to teach lessons in perseverance, compassion and goal setting. This year I am teaching Algebra and Geometry and will also be coaching wrestling at the high school. For both classes I will be using Google Classroom, Powerschool, and Khan Academy. I have attached notes to almost all of my Powerschool assignments and they provide all the necessary information for keeping up with the class. Emailing me at justin_iverson@charleston.k12.sc.us is the best way to contact me.
