Welcome to my page!  I teach Art 1, Art 2, and IB Visual Art SL and HL here at James Island Charter High School!

Art 1 courses are designed for students who have had limited or no prior preparation in art.  The course content includes a concentration in the major areas of critical analysis, creative expression and production, cultural heritage and aesthetic perception.  Students will study the elements and principles of design focusing mainly on 2-dimensional artmaking processes.  Major artists, periods, and styles will be studied.
Art 2 courses explore drawing and painting techniques in-depth.  This course will involve an intensive study of 2-dimensional problem solving using a variety of media to include charcoal, graphite, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, and oils.  The course content includes study in the areas of critical analysis, creative expression and production, cultural heritage, and aesthetic awareness.
The IB Visual Art courses are designed for students planning to continue their study of art and design in IB Visual Arts SL or HL.  Coursework involves the creation of research journals and a portfolio of a body of work that will be submitted for external evaluation by a representative of the IBO.  College credit may be available for students scoring a 4 or better on IB HL assessments.
Assignments for each class are clearly written on the whiteboard, verbally communicated to students, and posted online in that classes Google Classroom.

The best way/most immediate way to contact me is through email.
