The 2018-19 school year marks Mr. Bateman's first year as an educator in South Carolina and Charleston County School District.
From 2002-2018 Mr. Bateman was Director of Choral Activties in a rural school school district just North-West of Harrisburg, PA. Their auditioned choir traveled every year to different locations through out the US to compete in various festivals. Under his direction they went from receiving a rating of Good to earning ratings of Superior the every year since 2008.
In addition to the duties of choral director he also taught Piano I-VIII, Group Voice, Intro to Musical Theatre, Music Theory and AP Music Theory.
Extra Curricular duties included Advisory for Quiz Bowl, 2002 Fall Play Director, Vocal Musical Director andMusical Co-Director from 2016-17.
Mr. Bateman earned his Bachelor's Degree from Messiah College in Grantham, PA in 2002, in 2004 he earned a Masters in Music Education with an emphasis in Kodaly Methodology from West Chester University in West Chester, PA (near Philadelphia) and in 2014 a Maters Degree in Choral Conducting from Messiah College under the direct supervision of Linda Tedford and Dr. Rachel Cornacchio.
He and his wife are currently having a house built on Johns Island. His wife is a registered nurse and they have two adult children. Mr. Bateman is expecting his first grandchild in February of 2019!
